After completion of this course, learners will be able to explain the purpose of the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) within the air quality management process. Specifically, learners will be able to:
Explain the Clean Air Act requirements for the NAAQS.
List the six criteria pollutants covered by the NAAQS.
Distinguish between primary and secondary standards.
Explain the four elements of a NAAQS.
Explain the three phases of NAAQS review: planning, assessment, rulemaking.
Explain how the setting of the NAAQS is part of the overall air quality management process.
The course takes approximately 50 minutes to complete.
