This five-day laboratory course covers the requirements for ambient air sampling and laboratory analysis that is required for the sampling. After completion of this course, learners will be able to explain:
• Reference and equivalent methods for sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ozone (O3), and carbon monoxide (CO)
• Laboratory procedures and principles for: (1) nondispersive infrared method for CO, (2) flame photometric and UV fluorescent methods for sulfur compounds, (3) the chemiluminescent method and UV calibrations procedure for ozone, (4) the chemiluminescent method for nitrogen dioxide, and (5) use of dynamic calibration systems to calibrate continuous air monitoring equipment and to determine performance specifications of the various instruments
